The UGG - A Wardrobe Staple

The UGG boot has been around for years and have undoubtedly become a wardrobe staple for women of all ages and you can now get yours at elainecurtis.ie!

At this point in the UGG boot history, they can sit somewhere in-between the Wellington boot and the workout sneaker for an everyday wardrobe staple for women. The UGG boot started to get more popular around the early 2000's and literally every celebrity from Sarah Jessica Parker to Stella McCartney has been pictured wearing a pair.

They have been an enduring wardrobe staple for more than 13 years and they show no sign of fading away.

You can now buy Ugg boots with heels, sequins, knitted versions and pairs covered in fringe. However, it's the original boot that is still the most popular and well loved style from their collection. The original boot (we like the classic chestnut and black styles) are just so practical.

You can throw them on with a pair of jeans and a sweatshirt and have that perfect running-errands outfit. The fact is, UGG boots are extremely comfortable and critically, can be worn in warm and cold weather. Which is kind of important now that people are in full winter wardrobe mode! (Check out our knitwear section for AW13 to get some ideas!)

We here at elainecurtis.ie are always thinking of our customers and we of course are in full winter wardrobe mode ourselves, so we're really happy to announce that you can get your practical yet oh-so-stylish UGG boots online at elainecurtis.ie right now!

Our Favourite Winter Coats

Winter has well and truly arrived, which means it's time to invest in a coat to keep toasty warm! We've gathered some of our favourites from the elainecurtis.ie AW13 collection that will take you through any winter weather and any occasion.

This Diane Von Furstenberg Zona coat is a must for winter.
It's both practical and stylish. It fits just above the knee and has a gorgeous satin finish that makes it different from other puffa type jackets around this season. The wide collar gives it a great shape and the coat overall is a flattering fit.

And it doesn't just look good either - the inside is lined with goose down, so it's sure to keep you well insulated this winter. Pair it with some skinny jeans and ankle boots for a stylish yet practical winter outfit.

The 'By Malene Birger' Bugsy coat is one of our absolute favourites this season.
This is a gorgeous wool coat in a great shade of peony pink. It's a luxurious piece that will keep you warm and stylish this winter. The fit is super flattering with a discreet front closure and a great belt that when tied will create a flattering silhouette for the wearer.

This piece would look fantastic with one of our Cocoa Cashmere scarves or if you want something a bit more funky, an Electronic Sheep scarf would be a great addition. If your looking for a piece that is classic and luxurious then this coat is a definite must have.

The shawl collar and mid length details are just added bonuses on this fabulous piece. A great coat for the festive party season, it could be teamed with a great dress and heels to give you a gorgeous party outfit. Pair it with a Michael Kors satchel in snake print to add a splash of edgy colour to this classic piece.

For something a bit different this winter, why not invest in the edgy Ottod'ame Hooded Double Layer Parka jacket? This is a very cool take on the classic parka jacket that can be worn all year round due to the detachable inner lining, so it makes for a fantastic investment piece.

There are some great details on this jacket that make it a great winter find, the fox fur collar and knitted cuffs give the parka an added edge. Paired with some great jeans and ankle boots and a slouchy sweater this could be a great relaxed outfit for the cold weather.

Winter is full of dark colours, why not add a much needed pop of to your wardrobe? This 'Just in Case' Zucca Coat is just so beautiful. The bright candy colour will lift any winter outfit and the gorgeous tulip shape gives it a really elegant look.

AW13 Fashion Show Round-up

Weeks of preparation came to fruition last week when we had our annual AW13 Fashion Show. It was a massive success; we had over 200 people join us as we watched some of Assets best models strutting their stuff down our runway, wearing some of the hottest looks of winter.

Our show this year was all in aid of Carlow hospice, and we were delighted to have raised nearly €25,000 for this fantastic cause.

The show was presented by stylist and designer Sonya Lennon who, as usual, did an amazing job of hosting. We also had Sonya’s own collection ‘Lennon Courtney’ showing, which can be shopped ‘here’ at elainecurtis.ie., and proved very popular with everyone at the show.

Declan Fitzpatrick, Sonya Lennon and Elaine Curtis (wearing Zoe Jordan)

Our models too, did an amazing job. We had some of Ireland’s top models with us on the night, including Sarah Morrissey, Karen Fitzpatrick and Abby Harris who were all stunning in looks from Diane Von Furstenberg, By Malene Birger, Just in Case, Maison Scotch among many others.

The big trend of the night was layering. Gorgeous sweaters, coats and scarves were in abundance at the show. Our favourite looks are below, and can all be shopped at elainecurtis.ie

This Autumn/Winter the big trend is the mix of leather and lace. This ‘Just in Case’ dress is paired with a fantastic draped leather jacket by Rutzou and a Cocoa Cashmere cowl neck sweater.

Yomiko wearing Ottod'ame and DVF

Cocoa Cashmere’ is a new addition to elainecurtis.ie and is full of luxurious but affordable cashmere sweaters, cardigans and scarves. It really is a must for this winter. You can shop the new collection ‘here’.

The look is finished off with Fitzpatrick’s shoes and bags; another knew addition that can be found online at elainecurtis.ie.

Carrying on with the leather trend of the season, one of our favourite models, Yomiko, can be seen here wearing the Ottod’ame leather skirt with a gorgeous Diane Von Furstenberg printed blouse.

The skirt is a great way to wear the leather trend this season as this piece can be teamed with a piece of luxurious knitwear (perhaps some Cocoa Cashmere?), or worn with a great blouse for a great work outfit.

One of our favourite looks was this ‘By Malene Birger’ Shasan coat paired with the K-Yen fur neckpiece, modelled here by the always gorgeous Sarah Morrissey.

Sarah Morrissey wearing the Shasan coat 'By Malene Birger
This really is a perfect look for winter; the coat has a classic style but still has an edge to it, and can be paired with skinny jeans and flats or dressed up with a great dress and heels.

Being able to dress it up and down is great if you’re going from work to a Christmas party!

The fur collar from K-Yen is a beautiful accessory, and really adds a luxurious touch to the tailored look of the coat.

Neckpieces and Scarves were another big trend on the night. Right now we have pieces from designers, ‘By Malene Birger’, ‘AmericanVintage’, ‘Cocoa Cashmere’ and ‘Electronic Sheep’.

Paired with a tailored jacket or sweater, these are the perfect accessories for winter.

You can check out more of the gorgeous looks from the fashion show on our Facebook page. You can also check out our full AW13 collection on our Pinterest page and make sure you sign up to our newsletter to get some more ideas for the winter season!
